To Purchase a Single 18 Note Musical Mechanism $14.95 or $19.95 (Most commonly used for building a music box) These tunes play about 14 bars of music in 4/4 time lasting three minutes or so when fully wound. All tunes repeat after the cylinder has made one full revolution.
		18 Note Gold Tone or Black Tone Finish Musical Movements by Sankyo, in Japan. Movements CAN have a 2-1/2" long brass wire lever installed that will stop the music when depressed, for on/off. The wire can be bent to fit various configurations. On/Off Wire and Mounting Hardware are NOT included unless you order them. See Below. Dimensions: 2" x 1-3/4" x 13/16"H (51mm x 44.5mm 20.5mm).

As the number of notes increase, from an 18 note to a 50 note, there is more embellishment to the tune and the tone is richer. The 50 note mechanism has multiple tunes. Each revolution of the drum is one tune, then it shifts to play the next tune. After it has played the number of tunes that it comes with, it will shift back to the first tune.

A hole punched into the disk for the stop mechanism is all that is needed to

1.  YOU NEED TO HAVE A LICENSE FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE TUNE.  
IF YOU ARE THE AUTHOR THEN WE NEED A WRITTEN STATEMENT STATING THAT YOU ARE THE AUTHOR.

2. WE NEED A MUSICAL SCORE (SHEET MUSIC)  ANNOTATED  FOR THE 8 OR 16 BARS FOR THE 18 OR 30 NOTE. WE ALSO NEED AN AUDIO VERSION OF THE MUSIC OR A FILE SUITABLE TO E-MAIL TO JAPAN WHERE  THE MUSIC WILL BE CREATED.  A FILE WILL BE SENT FOR FINAL APPROVAL.

Takes about 2 weeks to get the sample music to the customer, after it is approved they make the mold, it takes 2 – 3 weeks to produce after that . Total of 4 – 6 weeks from start to finish. The mold is held in Japan , but belongs to the customer. FREIGHT IS INCLUDED IN ESTIMATES.

The History of Music Boxes

The origin of music boxes can be traced back to 1796, to Antoine Favre, the watchmaker from Geneva, who fathered nearly two centuries of mechanical dreams.  At first merely a gadget incorporated in watches, perfume bottles, pendants, etc., the musical movement was the glory of Sainte-Croix during the second half of the 19th century.  At the time this industrial activity represented 10% of the total volume of Swiss exports and was a source of delight to the high and mighty of this world, from Europe to China.
